Writing the second article for lead content series

Since you have already done the necessary planning and research for your lead content series and you have also written and published the first article of the series, the second article will be just a breeze.

The only challenge in store for you when writing this post is your ability to not stray from the topic you intended for the second article and to maintain its connection to the whole series. Another problem that you would most likely encounter is the diminished motivation to finish the article. Since you have already stated what you wanted to say in the first post, you would most probably run out of interesting things to say in the second article.

This is the part where your creativity as a blogger comes in. While ensuring that your second post does not stray out of topic, you also need to look for other angles to present your article as to always perk the interest of your readers.

Maintain uniformity in your blog format

You would notice that you already have more posts since you have started the seven-part lessons on how to start a blog. However, you might also discover that the more articles you publish, the more complex things become. This is the most opportune time to look at your posts and look at their forms – capitalization, section, spelling, among others.

You need to make sure that you have a standard formatting for all these post forms. Failure to do so might cause confusion to your readers and discourage them from focusing on the message you want to impart. You would lose your brand make your blog appear not so professional.

To avoid this, you must also come up with a blogging style guide. This would be some sort of checklist covering all details you need to be aware of. The style guide will not only help you remember how to format all your content, it will also give you a ready-to-use style instruction for possible guest bloggers and it will also help you keep all content forms in place.

The style guide will include all your rules in all forms of formatting in your blog. This will help you save a lot of time instead of going through all your posts once again to check you spelled a certain word. The style guide may include rules on capitalization, spelling especially those that words that are related to your niche, formatting of media (picture, video, etc.) in posts, text formats for titles and sub-headings, quotes, among others.

The guide that you will come up with will be unique to the kind of blog you have. Thus, there is no guarantee that the style guide used by your blogger friend will be applicable to your own blog. You would be surprised to know that some of the most easily forgotten formats are the easiest. So, keep your style guide simple, comprehensible and comprehensive.

Since you have just developed this style guide after you have already posted some content on your blog, it would not hurt to go back to previous posts and apply your new formatting rules.

Reinventing the About Page

Indeed, you are really now on your way to becoming a blog connoisseur with your set-up site, blog platform, theme, site structure and, most especially, the content. Unfortunately, these are still not enough. You need to consider reinventing your About Page now that you have already gotten a better idea of your blog’s destination in the near future.

In assessing the value of your About Page, you need to make sure that it introduces you as the owner of the blog spot and it includes an image of you. It should be able to tell the readers what they would get from your blog. It should also be able to meet the objectives you have determined in your planning like encouraging people to sign up for your newsletter, become part of your social media community, leave their contact information, create testimonials and the likes. Lastly, it should have a call to action statement at the end that would prompt your readers to do something like checking out the latest posts or click relevant links.

Incorporate all possible changes to improve the article you have made for your About Page and then follow the guidelines that you have set when publishing content in your blog to ensure quality. Have the article checked by a friend and leave it for a day before proofreading and editing. Do not hesitate to make some changes if you are still not yet satisfied.

It would also help if you allow your online community to comment on the article as it would not only give you more ideas, it will also boost your social engagement with your audience.
